Now I know what you’re probably thinking. How dare he mentions Iayze and NBA Youngboy in the same sentence. But this isn’t a comparison post. Earlier this week, YoungBoy tweeted “Fun Challenge, 10 tapes 1 year???” Now if you don’t know what significance this has to do with Iayze, let’s just say that he’s quickly approaching that “goal” with 9 different projects this year. These projects include 3 albums in Virtuous, Demons 2 & D2 Deluxe(12 added songs), Celestial (Cullen) and 6 EP’s that include the LEEK 4 & 5, Untold Legacy, Curation 2, Final Fantasy (Devstacks) and 4ever Here<3(MixedMatches). Alongside these 9 projects, Iayze has managed to drop 50+ singles not to mention a pool of features all ranging from Rap to RnB and even experimenting with Alternative Rock. This puts him at around 150+ total released/unreleased songs for the year. But this isn’t the first time that Iayze has gone on a run like this. In the year of 2021, iayze managed to drop 6 albums with 2 EP’s which included his only ever No Auto Tape.
So why is this important? It’s been said before, but if you’re an up and coming artist and looking for ways to expand your platform, a good way to start is by experimenting with different sounds. This will naturally attract different groups of listeners while also showing that you’re not afraid to try something new. It doesn’t hurt to try and by experimenting with different styles and genres, you might even find your own niche. There are things that set good artists apart from great artists like creativity, versatility, and most important, work ethic. People have a lot of opinions about artists like YB and Iayze, but one thing no one can take away from them as artists is their work ethic. Work ethic will take you places that talent simply won’t. It shows your fans that you're dedicated to the music and that you’re serious about your craft. So if you’re looking for ways to take your music career to the next level, take the next 6 months to experiment with different sounds and genres and see what you and your fanbase likes. Because at the end of the day, you should also enjoy the art that you’re creating.
So how many projects do you guys think Iayze will drop by the end of the year? Do you think YB will hit his goal of dropping 10 projects?
