Massachusetts holds a special place in this nation’s history, it’s known for a lot of things, none of which is breeding great artists. Today, we look at the future of the state with Ish Akanour’s song “Hustle”. Sampling Kodak Black’s “Too Many Years” Ish tackles deep introspection in a fun way, incorporating witty imagery and wordplay throughout. Jumping back and from melodies to bars “Hustle” is a hot potato game of a song, subject matter included.
In spite of this, it never feels disjointed. Ish does an incredible juggling act, both educating and entreating at once. Opening up about the struggles of an artist ironically makes it relatable to everybody. Art or not, we’ve all hustled for something just to get set back. Ish Akanour finds the poetry in this and exploits it, resulting in a track that pulls at every heart string. Only in his early 20’s and already building a lot of buzz, going on tours and doing shows with well known artists like 2kBaby, the sky’s the limit for Ish Akanour.
