There has been party music and songs to turn up to but the SoundCloud era brought us true
hype music. Spearheaded by artists like Lil Uzi Vert and Travis Scott they put most of the focus on the production and vibe of the track, the same could be said for regular club music but “hype” is the key word here. Before this new wave there weren’t mosh pits at rap concerts.
Toronto artists Wxvy Jackson(20) and 10k Moss(23) put their own twist on the sound
with “Kino!”. Building off of an interesting sample that soothes the ears before the base slaps you back awake. Pulling from inspirations like Kanye West, Playboi Carti, and Drake they feed off of each other like some sort of positive parasite, throwing flows and lyrics that you can’t help but bop your head to,this synergy is completely organic as the song was a spur of the moment creation, both artists just letting go and trusting each other to deliver. They ended up surprising themselves with the result.
It’s nothing that hasn’t been said before but their delivery and overall production creates a truly one of a kind listen. You can hear the inspirations but it’s the furthest thing from imitation. à
This song is two minutes of pure energy, leaving the listeners in a whirlwind and you can help but run it back one or two more times.
