Far too often young kids with talent find themselves labeled as a prodigy, encasing them in a
tomb of pressure. The word is defined as “a person, especially a young one, endowed with
exceptional qualities or abilities”. So the mass categorization makes sense, especially in a label filled era, I just had to do a lot of thinking for this article because I didn’t want to sound
hyperbolic. After some time I reached the conclusion that Nashville Tennessee native Keneck0 is in fact a prodigy.
This is just my humble opinion of course but his newest track “Conversations” is the perfect
character witness. Having just turned 16 in January and relocating to Florida the month prior,
Keneck0 faced an immense amount of change at once and confronts it in the song. It’s an
admittedly somber take but the approach displays a perspective far beyond his years. Going as far to talk to himself at points.
I’ve heard more polished work but the heart and soul that goes into it makes up for any lack of production value. The lyrics, melodies, beat, and lackadaisical performance all melt together to create a memory stew of a song. It makes you reflect on your own mistakes while
simultaneously instilling a sense of hope for the future. Keneck0’s biggest inspirations are Mac Miller, Trippie Redd, and Daniel Caesar. You can hear all of them in the song but it never sounds like an imitation, rather an homage that creates something new. Already showing a great understanding of music theory and filled with a deep passion, the sky’s the limit for Keneck0. Checkout his newest release “Conversations”, out everywhere now.
